Recording of Cell Activity

The goal of the practical course is to advance students to current research techniques used in neuroscience and biophysics. A couple of experiments were selected which will take place at genuinee research equipments.

The course is open to all students of the International Helmholtz Research School. The course will run for one week (Feb. 11 - 15, 2008) and will cover the following topics:

• Recording from brain slices
• Voltage and Ca2+ imaging in living cells with optical probes
• Combination of rapid mixing and dual-emission techniques to measure voltage in sperm
• Extracellular recording and stimulation

Along with the laboratory course there will be lectures introducing to the topics addressed during the lab course. The maximum number of participants will be limited to ten students.
