Prof. Dr. Rudolf Merkel
Rudolf Merkel studied physics and completed his dissertation in 1993 at the Institute of Biophysics at the Technical University Munich. He spent two years as Feodor-Lynen-Fellow of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation in Vancouver, Canada, at the Department of Academic Pathology at the University of British Columbia. He returned to Munich where he worked the next five years as staff scientist and received his habilitation in 2000. Since 2001, Rudolf Merkel is director at the Institute of Bio- and Nanosystems at the Research Centre Jülich and since 2002 Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Bonn.
