The seminar is meant to cover topics from a wide range of physics, and to help physics students to prepare for general physics question rounds in their PhD defense. However, all non-physics students are welcome to join the seminar, and to give talks in the seminar as well. The talks should provide us with a broad overview of each topic, explaining the main ideas and results, but not going into too much detail.
The following list of topics is only meant as a suggestion. The list is not complete, and further suggestions on topics are always welcome. If you realize that a topic is too extensive to cover in one talk, feel free to split it.
Dark matter & dark energy
The Higgs Boson
Are you afraid of black holes from the LHC?
Magnetic properties of elements along the periodic table
Bose-Einstein condensation
Superconductivity
Superfluidity
Quantum cryptography
Quantum teleportation
Dusty plasmas
Nuclear fusion experiments
CPT symmetry and its violation
Hopf bifurcation
What is Chaos?
